The P-NUCLEO-53L8A1 is a complete evaluation kit designed to learn, evaluate, and develop applications using the different commercial products of the VL53L8 series Time-of-Flight sensors, including VL53L8CX and VL53L8CH.
The VL53L8CX is an 8x8 multizone, ToF-ranging sensor that enhances performance under ambient light with reduced power consumption. It is based on STMicroelectronics FlightSense technology and designed to provide accurate ranging up to 400 cm with a 65° diagonal FoV.
The VL53L8CH integrates a powerful new-generation VCSEL and two advanced metasurface lenses. The integrated VCSEL emits fully invisible 940 nm IR light, which is Class 1 certified and safe for the eyes. It delivers raw Compact Normalized Histogram (CNH) data output across up to 64 zones and 128 bins. This enables advanced AI applications such as object classification, surface detection, gesture, and hand posture recognition.
It is ideal for robotics, IoT, and AI applications, including Arduino® UNO R3 connectors, spacers, and a cover glass. With full software support and ModusToolbox™ compatibility, it accelerates prototyping of the STM32 Nucleo pack with X-NUCLEO-53L8A1 expansion board and NUCLEO-F401RE development board, enabling rapid prototyping and application development for advanced ToF sensing solutions across multiple industries and use cases.
