MAX3232ECUP+ is a true RS-232 transceiver. This +3.0V-powered EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 communications interface device features low power consumption, high data-rate capabilities, and enhanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. The enhanced ESD structure protects all transmitter outputs and receiver inputs to ±15kV using IEC 1000-4-2 air-gap discharge, ±8kV using IEC 1000-4-2 contact discharge, and ±15kV using the human body model. A proprietary low-dropout transmitter output stage delivers true RS-232 performance from a +3.0V to +5.5V power supply, using an internal dual charge pump. The charge pump requires only four small 0.1μF capacitors for operation from a +3.3V supply. Applications include battery-powered equipment, cell phones smart phones, cell-phone data cables, notebook, subnotebook, and palmtop computers, printers, xDSL modems.
- Supply current is 0.3mA typ at active-low SHDN=VCC, no load, VCC=+3.3V or +5V, TA=+25°C
- Shutdown supply current is 1µA typ at active-low SHDN=GND
- Input leakage current is ±0.01μA typ at T-IN, active-low EN, active-low SHDN
- Output voltage swing is ±5.4V typ at all transmitter outputs loaded with 3kohm to ground
- Output resistance is 50kohm typ at VCC=0V, transmitter output=±2V
- Output Short-Circuit Current is ±60mA max at VCC=+3.3V or +5V, TA=+25°C
- Maximum data rate is 250kbps min at TA=TMIN to TMAX, RL=3kohm, CL=1000pF, one transmitter switching
- Receiver propagation delay is 0.15μs typ at receiver input to receiver output, CL=150pF
- 20 TSSOP package
- Temperature range from 0°C to +70°C
