The 4264 is a 150mm CAT-5e UTP 10/100 BaseT Data Cable Economiser, RJ45 plug to 2 RJ45 jacks with gold-plated contacts, white jacket, 4-pair and 24AWG wire. Traditionally Ethernet networks use 8 conductor cable (or 4 twisted pairs) of which four are left spare and not used. These adaptors make use of the spare conductors. In effect the fully wired economisers, to be used in pairs at each end of a cable run, allows Cat.5E data and voice signals to be divided. By plugging one economiser direct into a wall outlet and another into a patch panel at the other end, one cable run of 4 twisted pairs can be used to transmit either 2 sets of data, voice or single data and voice signals. Economises on use of solid core premise wiring by splitting signal into two sets of 2 twisted pair, saves installation of additional cable runs. Y adaptor splits all eight lines allowing for parallel connection, it does not give two individual lines, however allows two (telephones) points to share same line.
