The MAX3161EEAG+ is a ±15KV ESD protected 3V to 5.5V, 10nA, RS232/RS485/ RS422 multiprotocol transceiver in 24 pin SSOP package. It is pin programmable as either 2 transmitter/2 receiver RS232 interface or a single half/full duplex RS485/RS422 transceiver. It features enhanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. The transmitter outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15KV using the Human Body Model. This device incorporate a low dropout transmitter output stage and an onboard dual charge pump to allow RS232 and RS485/RS422 compliant performance from a +3V to +5.5V supply. It also feature pin selectable transmitter slew rates for RS232 and RS485/RS422 modes. Slew rate limiting minimizes EMI and reduces reflections caused by improperly terminated cables allowing error free data transmission up to 250Kbps. Disabling slew rate limiting allows this device to transmit at data rates up to 10Mbps in RS485/RS422 mode and up to 1Mbps in RS232 mode.
